In this ground report, Jist reporter Medha reached Nuwakot, one of the worst-affected areas after the devastating Nepal flash floods of August 26, 2026. The area was earlier difficult to access after road connectivity was disrupted by the floods. Medha shows the massive destruction left behind by the flash flood, with homes and streets buried under layers of mud, rocks and debris. Even houses that survived have debris filled up to their second and third floors. People who managed to survive the flood are now returning to their homes, only to find much of what they had built buried under debris. Medha speaks to local residents whose homes have been destroyed and captures their stories of loss. The report also shows the ongoing rescue and relief efforts in the flood-hit area as teams continue working amid the destruction. Watch this ground report from Nuwakot, Nepal, to see the devastation left behind by the flash floods and how survivors are returning to the remains of their homes.
