Prime Minister Mark Carney will be in Thunder Bay, Ont., on Thursday, where he is expected to announce a "historic" investment in Canadian manufacturing. The announcement comes nearly two weeks after Carney announced Canada would step away from the negotiating table, halting trade talks with the U.S. and escalating the trade war between the two countries. Canada has promised dollar-for-dollar counter-tariffs after the U.S. imposed a 50 per cent levy on Canadian goods. Carney said the federal government was "walking away from a bad deal," adding that the U.S. had "asked too much and offered too little" as negotiations broke down.
