Reps. Pat Harrigan (R-NC) and George Whitesides (D-CA) discuss President Trump’s push for data center development and concerns from communities considering new projects. "I don’t think the government should come in and dictate to anybody what their decision should be at the local level," Rep. Harrigan said. Rep. Whitesides says residents’ concerns are legitimate, pointing to electricity prices, increased energy use, water consumption, and air and noise pollution. “We have to center people, and we have to center their concerns,” he said. Both discuss the need to consider the potential economic opportunities and impacts of AI data center development.
