A couple from New Brunswick embarked on the 5,000km drive to British Columbia last week for promised employment, but now find themselves stranded in Winnipeg, Man. “It was all fine until we hit the Quebec highway in the middle of the night when we blew our first tire,” Megan Wallace explained. “The belt completely shredded so we changed the tire on the side of the highway in the middle of the night. It was quite challenging, pretty scary,” she added. Their luck got worse when two more tires blew out when travelling through Ontario – adding significant unexpected expenses to the trek. Though Wallace and her fiancé, Morris Gilliah, faced a number of unexpected challenges on their cross-country commute, they are hoping some help from the community and a local organization can get them back on track.
