C-SPAN's "Ceasefire" — Former Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA) and former Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) discuss the bipartisan work of Congress in the aftermath of 9/11. "It really was a 7/24 effort right after 9/11 to get together, Republicans and Democrats sitting around a table, and crafted the piece of legislation that we now call the Patriot Act," Mr. Chambliss said. "It was a bipartisan action because, as Jane said, we were operating as Americans, not as Republicans and Democrats." "I agree with that, but even before that, within a few days, we crafted the authorization to use military force, which authorized the action we took against those who attacked us," Ms. Harman added. Both Ms. Harman and Mr. Chambliss were members of the House Intelligence Committee at the time of the attacks. Watch the full interview FRIDAY at 7pm and 10pm ET/PT on C-SPAN. #cspanceasefire #cspan #911 #harman #chambliss #bush
