Star Trek’s sixtieth anniversary just passed this week, so it’s fitting that this is when the best episode of Strange New Worlds season four airs. After a bunch of costume-party episodes, with dinosaurs, a ghost ship, a soap opera, a black-and-white noir, and also literal puppets, “Orders of Magnitude” moves away from anything gimmicky and gives us pure, grounded, morally ambiguous classic Trek. And the way it does it is by giving James T. Kirk the biggest spotlight he’s gotten on this show since his first appearance as an alternate-universe Kirk in the season 1 finale. And fun fact, it was directly inspired by a classic Tom Cruise film, but we’ll get to that. Quick catch-up to lay out the episode for you, though obviously you’ve seen it already so I won’t info-dump all over you. #StrangeNewWorlds #StarTrekSNW #SNWSeason4 #StarTrek #SNWS4E8
