Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth paid tribute to those who responded to the 9/11 terrorist attacks and portrayed the Iran war as a continuation of the war on terror. "Warriors and civilians alike, they stared death in the eye and they did not blink," he said at a Pentagon 25th anniversary remembrance ceremony. "Sept. 11, 2001, was one of the darkest days in American history, but evil did not get the last word. It never has and it never will. 25 years later, America is stronger than ever before, tall and proud." The defense secretary said the "struggle" against terrorism continues, including seeking to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. "Over the past six months, we have laid waste to the world's most prolific state-sponsor of terrorism. Our warriors have fought an Islamic theocracy that has wished us death for nearly half a century, that cheered on 9/11," he said. "We're still sending terrorists where they belong, to hell." #hegseth #911 #terrorism #cspan
