Stellantis announced plans Friday to sell its Brampton assembly plant to Canadian armoured vehicle manufacturer Roshel, raising new uncertainty for more than 2,000 workers who have been laid off for over two years. Unifor says bargaining with the automaker has reached an impasse following news of the planned sale. Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown is calling on Ottawa to take legal action against Stellantis after the company moved planned vehicle production to the U.S. One business analyst warned that if U.S. auto tariffs remain in place, the move could mark the “beginning of the end for auto manufacturing in Canada.” Noor Ibrahim reports.
