I have been playing Elden Ring lately and have noticed how the Souls games have become a lot less punishing for players over the years. Back in Demon's Souls, players were punished quite harshly for dying in several ways but in Elden Ring, the only real punishment for dying is dropping your souls which can usually be recovered anyway. In this video I'm going to discuss the advantages that death punishments brought to Demon's Souls, as well as talking how removing most of these punishments for failure works well in Elden Ring. Which approach to failure do you prefer? Contents: 00:00 Introduction 02:19 Advantages of death punishments 02:55 Advantages of being lenient 04:14 Conclusion
