News24 Defence Analyst Peter Jennings says he's "not surprised" by ASIO’s foiling of 16 terrorist plots since the Bondi Beach massacre. "We keep hearing from Mike Burgess his expressions of concern about what’s going on,” Mr Jennings told News24 host James Macpherson. “But we’re now talking about a major pilot being foiled, perhaps every three weeks or so, and what this tells me is that we have not got our handle on this problem. “The government clearly wants it to go away for political reasons, but from a policing and a counter-terrorism and intelligence perspective, I don’t think we’re dealing with this adequately. “Unfortunately, the Royal Commission doesn’t look like it wants to go into the details of these things to be able to advise government to say it needs to do things differently. “You can foil 16 plots, but you can’t foil 100 per cent of them, so the likelihood of Australia facing another terror incident, I think, is now very high.”
