News24 host Rita Panahi dismisses claims Sydney Sweeney’s betting ad was meant to celebrate women’s sport, arguing the controversy has nothing to do with women’s sport. “It’s been presented as if this ad was supposed to be a celebration of women’s sport and they’ve somehow missed the mark,” Ms Panahi said. “It has nothing to do with women’s sport unless the blokes who signed up to that company want to bet on women’s sport. “It’s a gambling product. “They should be celebrating her initiative here.”
