Mitch McConnell returned to the Senate in a wheelchair Monday and cast his first vote in roughly three months following a June fall that left him briefly unconscious and led to hospitalization, treatment for pneumonia, rehabilitation and continued physical therapy. The 84-year-old Kentucky senator said he is “still not quite back to 100%” but intends to be present for important votes during the final months of his term, including work on the stalled farm bill. His lengthy absence had prompted calls for greater transparency from Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and renewed questions about how Congress handles extended health-related absences.
