You are probably familiar with the song, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” but did you know it was written during the War of 1812? Today, in this educational video for kids, we are going to learn more about the War of 1812.   Even though the United States became an independent nation in 1776, there was still tension with Great Britain. By the early 1800s, Great Britain was fighting a war with France. During this time, the British tried to keep US ships from stopping at French ports, even though the United States was not a part of the war. The British also captured sailors aboard American ships and forced them to fight for the British Navy.   Both the French and the British falsely believed that the United States was supplying the enemy with food and weapons. This meant that US ships were constantly intercepted and searched by both countries.   We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about the War of 1812!
