"We are not fair-weather allies. We do not pursue zero-sum deals. Our commitment to the rule of law and our unyielding defense of human dignity, individual freedom, and democracy share the same deep roots, the same unwavering dedication," Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said as he spoke on Canadian-European relations before the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France. The prime minister's remarks were intended to strengthen relations with Europe as relations with the United States have appeared to become strained. Carney spoke on several topics, including trade, critical minerals, energy security, and upholding democracy around the world. Additionally, Carney welcomed the previous day's proposal from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to become the European Union's first associate member. https://www.c-span.org/program/international-telecasts/canadian-prime-minister-mark-carney-on-eu-canada-relations/685317 Download the FREE C-SPAN Now App. https://www.c-span.org
