Mitch McConnell returned to the Senate after a three-month absence and supplied the vote Republicans needed to advance the Farm Bill from committee, 12-11 along party lines. Video of the roll call quickly drew attention after confusion unfolded around McConnell’s vote, although Sen. John Hoeven’s office says Hoeven was the one who mistakenly believed senators were voting on a different procedural question and that McConnell had already indicated his support for the bill. The episode came just days after the 84-year-old senator returned to Washington following a June fall, hospitalization and recovery from pneumonia. Ring of Fire's Josh G. explains. C-SPAN, Sen.
