The United States and China — who are locked in an artificial intelligence race — have reached an agreement. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told reporters on Monday that the “U.S. has proposed that we have a notification mechanism between the two countries and we want a shared vision of common goals and common threats.” The countries will create an incident line to alert the other of any AI safety issues. The deal comes on the heels of a report by CNN that stated AI almost started a war between the two nations. Global’s Nathaniel Dove reports.
