Trump shared a mockup of potential Space Force uniforms explicitly described as inspired by Starship Troopers, although there is no indication that the image represents an official Pentagon uniform proposal. Director Paul Verhoeven responded by emphasizing that his 1997 film deliberately borrowed from Nazi propaganda and depicts characters who are “fascists without knowing that they’re fascists.” The episode comes as Air Force Secretary Troy Meink has separately confirmed for the first time that the United States has deployed “on-orbit space control weapons,” while declining to disclose what those systems are or how they operate.
