The UK government is expected to decide soon on whether to give the go-ahead for a controversial new gas field, known as Jackdaw, off the coast of Aberdeen. The gas field was approved by the former Conservative government in 2022, but final approval was delayed by a legal ruling. Supporters argue the new drilling would improve the UK's energy security as overseas conflicts threaten supply. But others are concerned about the environmental impact. On BBC Two’s Politics Live, Vicki Young was joined by Labour MP Nesil Caliskan, Conservative peer Stuart Jackson and environmental campaigner and Guardian journalist George Monbiot to discuss the issue.
