For 40 years, the White Rock Renegades have been producing winning teams in women's fastpitch. They have the most successful record of any amateur team in Canada and have won more provincial championships than any other association in B.C. and more Canadian championships than any other association in the country. Their foundation is based on five "ships" — Championship, Leadership, Sportsmanship, Scholarship and Citizenship. The team was founded by Glen Todd, who had two daughters who wanted to play. Todd formed the team and eventually created Softball City, the place where the Canada Cup is held every year. The Renegades have been the source of some of the most elite players in the country who have represented Canada at the Olympic Games. More importantly, it has changed the lives of hundreds of women through scholarships and a culture that breeds confidence and courage. This special looks at the history of the team, its current impact and the secret to its success. Jason Pires te
