Hundreds of truckers from B.C.'s Lower Mainland gathered on Friday morning to form a convoy and raise awareness about the high cost of diesel. The war in Ukraine and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East are limiting global diesel supply, driving up prices worldwide. “Everybody is struggling right now,” Raginder Bhandu, a truck driver of 23 years, told Global News on Friday. “The diesel price is going up; it's $3 right now, so all the families are struggling. We work for free right now.” U.S. President Donald Trump said he is considering temporarily banning diesel exports in an attempt to bring prices down in the United States, but experts say that may backfire and cost consumers more in the long term, including in Canada.
