A Winnipeg woman is speaking out after she says she was the victim of an elaborate romance scam. The woman, whom Global News is not identifying as she works with vulnerable youth, says she met the man through Tinder. She says he claimed to own a cybersecurity company and he appeared generous and protective. She now believes he was using a fake name. She says he claimed his credit card and passport were stolen in Edmonton and convinced her to send him money. In the end, he left her on the hook for the money she sent, as well as a $6,000 rental car bill. Marney Blunt explains how it happened – and this woman’s message to others.
