Bangkok’s governor declared the Thai capital a disaster affected zone Saturday after more than 24 hours of continuous rain triggered widespread flooding. Residents waded through flooded streets and rushed to stock up on food, while some drivers moved their vehicles onto bridges to escape rising water. “I was shocked too, and honestly, this situation feels quite scary,” said Bangkok resident Nichapat Klangprapan. With more heavy rain forecast through the weekend, authorities urged residents near canals to move their possessions to higher ground.
