Political leaders, Indigenous officials and RCMP are condemning a masked group's appearance on Tkʼemlúps te Secwépemc land near Kamloops, B.C. Community leaders say several individuals dressed in black with their faces covered were seen on reserve land Sunday morning. RCMP say the group also displayed a banner bearing the words "got bones?" and have launched an ongoing investigation. Prime Minister Mark Carney, BC NDP leader David Eby and others denounced the incident, calling it a hateful and cowardly act. The demonstration comes ahead of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and has renewed concerns about residential school denialism and its impact on Indigenous communities.
