Former Special Counsel Jack Smith appeared Tuesday morning before the Senate Judiciary Committee, where he took questions from lawmakers on his investigations into President Donald Trump, including Trump's attempt to overturn the 2020 election and the classified documents found at Mar-a-lago. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee opened the hearing, followed by Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), then allowing Smith to make his statements before taking questions from lawmakers under oath. While at least one Republican lawmaker argued that Smith lied while under oath in December 2025, Smith and his attorneys maintain he was truthful during his testimony.
