Unite the Union boss Sharon Graham told Newsnight that reports of potential changes to the triple lock on pensions, would be now "only morally wrong; it would be electoral suicide." But Business Secretary Johnny Reynolds says "we have a manifesto commitment, and we are sticking to it.” There is growing speculation about how such a care system could be funded, including removing the pensions triple lock in the future. The triple lock, which has been in place for 16 years, means state pensions rise every April by at least 2.5% or in line with the highest of prices or earnings. #politics #ukpolitics #politicalnews #labour #labourparty #andyburnham #bbc #bbcnews #newsnight Newsnight is the BBC's flagship news and current affairs TV programme - with analysis, debate, exclusives, and robust interviews.
