‘Trailer Park Boys’ actor Mike Smith has sexual assault charge dismissed

The sexual assault trial of ‘Trailer Park Boys’ star Mike Smith is over before it could even begin. Before the three-day trial, which was set to begin Thursday, Smith, who is best known for playing Bubbles on the cult classic Canadian TV series, pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual assault in connection to an incident alleged to have taken place on Dec. 30, 2017. The Crown told the judge they would be submitting no evidence in the matter, and the defence motioned for the charge to be dismissed, which was granted. Smith’s defence lawyer, Stan MacDonald – who appeared on behalf of Smith – told reporters his client was “happy to put this behind him.” Ella MacDonald reports with the latest.
