News South Wales One Nation Leader Mike Newman says police need greater powers to remove banners and flags he argues could incite violence and make Jewish Australians feel threatened. “Obviously free speech is something we want to protect and the right to protest,” Mr Newman told News24 host Rowan Dean. “What we don't want to see is, say, people in the Jewish community feel threatened by people who are clearly doing this as a celebration, not a protest. “I think the police need more powers to be able to take down, you know, hateful banners, whether the Hamas flags or those sorts of things which incite violence. “I think we have to formulate policy to make everyone in the community safe.”
