Tennessee’s first execution of a female prisoner in 200 years has gone terribly wrong. Christa Pike is in critical condition in hospital, after not one, but two failed attempts to kill her by lethal injection of pentobarbital. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee — who denied a last-ditch request for clemency earlier this week — called the situation — “deeply disturbing.” “There was no reason to expect it to not work, but it didn't. But something didn't go well- go right last night. And we need to find out why,” Lee said. As Global's Eric Sorensen reports, it’s unclear what happens next for Pike.
