Rep. Riley Moore (R-WV) on Thursday praised former President Richard Nixon and claimed that the only president to resign from office was really "framed" by the "deep state." "Richard Nixon was absolutely couped out of office and was framed. All of this was fake," he said at the Nixon Foundation's Grand Strategy Summit in Washington, DC. "And we now know more about the deep state and its power, and its ability to literally change things at the top. President Trump faced this in his first term with the fake Russian collusion hoax and all that." The West Virginia Republican said President Nixon "knew all of this" but "stayed quiet" because he didn't want to erode Americans' confidence in their system of governance and institutions. "The truth is now out there," he said. "I've always believed in his greatness. I've always been a fighter for Nixon and the truth because Nixon was a fighter. It's one of the reasons I love him. I just absolutely loved his spirit as a politician."
