Just days after the case of an alleged gang rape of a student at Cornell University in 2024 was reopened, the governor of New York has appointed a special prosecutor to oversee the investigation. Gov. Kathy Hochul says she was “deeply disturbed” by the case and that she “will not allow anyone to sweep this case under the rug.” Hochul is vowing to unravel failures in the investigation, and expressed that the young woman who made the allegations was failed by those who were supposed to protect her. Jackson Proskow reports.
