You can understand how amazing the novel is when one of the greatest authors of all time, Roald Dahl, called it “the best book I've read in a very long time. Subtle, horrific and splendid.” Thomas Harris truly had me hooked from the very first pages, and Dr. Lecter got under my skin in a way very few fictional characters ever have. I absolutely loved the film as well, with it being one of the best book-to-screen adaptations, and Sir Anthony Hopkins is incredible, being tailor-made for Hannibal Lecter. But for me, the book gives us so much more depth when it comes to Clarice and the characters around her.
