Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) defended President Trump's pledge to give every American adult $5,000 if Republicans hold on to both chambers of Congress in the midterms, while offering a different explanation for the vow. "The president is the big ideas guy, right? And he has more ideas today than we can keep up with," he said while campaigning with Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) at a restaurant in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday. "But what he's going for there, what he's trying to communicate is, if you want more money in your pocket, you have to keep Republicans in charge because we're the ones that have actually produced that. Again, it's record over rhetoric." Speaker Johnson said Republicans would "look at all the creative ideas that are out there," but stopped short of endorsing a specific plan for the payments. #mikejohnson #trump #dividend #scottperry #cspan
