Just days after it was confirmed that Nidal Malik Hasan – the convicted murderer responsible for the mass shooting in Fort Hood, Texas, in 2009 – would be executed by a firing squad, the Pentagon has confirmed the killing will be livestreamed. After U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the execution would be public, Pentagon officials later clarified that it would be a streamed event. Hasan’s execution would mark the first by a U.S. military firing squad since the Second World War. Hasan killed 13 people and injured 32 others at the military base.
