Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre will make an announcement in Burlington, Ont., on Friday where he will address the media and is expected to take questions. The press conference comes following heavy parliamentary debate around Prime Minister Mark Carney's major economic and project review legislation, Bill C-39 (the Building Canada Strong Act). The Opposition Conservatives voted with the majority Liberals Thursday to send Bill C-39 to a special committee for further study. The legislation aims to extend the guidelines being applied to the government's major infrastructure project to other projects across the country. Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre told reporters he wants the government to shorten project decision timelines to between six months and a year.
