The film stars actresses Shauna Macdonald, Natalie Mendoza, Alex Reid, Saskia Mulder, Nora-Jane Noone and MyAnna Buring. The Descent (2005) follows Sarah, a woman still grieving her husband and daughter, as she joins five friends on a caving expedition in the Appalachian Mountains. When a passage collapses behind them, Juno admits that she brought them into an unexplored cave system rather than the one they planned to visit—leaving the group trapped somewhere rescuers wouldn’t know to look. Searching for another exit, the women encounter the Crawlers, blind, cave-dwelling creatures that hunt by sound. Their expedition becomes a desperate fight for survival, while injuries, panic, and buried betrayals destroy the trust they need to get through
