Released in 1990, Darkman was a mega hit among superhero fans, with many viewers especially praising Sam Raimi’s direction and laying the foundation for his career in the superhero genre! The film grossed over 48 million dollars against a budget of 14 million dollars, and it also marked Liam Neeson’s first action film in a leading role. The story followed his character, Peyton Westlake, as he undergoes an experimental treatment and emerges with superhuman strength. The film’s commercial success, along with the character’s growing cult following, soon sparked rumours of a sequel. While there have been two official direct-to-video sequels and countless novel, comic, and video game adaptations, Darkman never received a theatrically released sequel involving either Raimi or Neeson despite the character’s cult status. #Darkman #Darkman1990 #PeytonWestlake #samraimi
