ICE documents obtained through a lawsuit show its investigations arm had gathered roughly 99 million voter records while examining hundreds of potential cases involving voter eligibility. The files also discuss undercover investigations of voter-registration groups and flagged organizations including Zumiez, while a New Jersey review reportedly found no derogatory information on more than 40 nonprofits. ICE says there is no reason for agents to be at polling places unless a threat arises, but separate comments from Trump allies and an ongoing lawsuit have put the agency’s election role under scrutiny.
