A British firm specializing in defence procurement for the Royal Navy has set up shop in Halifax, crediting Canada’s renewed focus on defence as a big reason for the move. Atlantic Canada’s defence industry is focused on building momentum in the wake of Ottawa’s pledge to increase defence spending. “We have 40 per cent of Canada's defense assets here, so we've got Canadian forces here; land, sea and air. We have companies that have already proven technologies working in other sectors who have found their way into the defence market.” Atlantic Canada Aerospace and Defence Association CEO Victoria Belbin said. Heidi Petracek explains what has put the focus on the East Coast.
