Assistant Defence Minister Peter Khalil says the Australian government is not going to change its position on Russia as US President Donald Trump signed a diesel deal with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. “We have very tight restrictions and sanctions on the purchase of oil from Russia and other goods because … Putin started this war and he has continued to kill civilians in the conduct of the war," Mr Khalil told News24. “I have a view that … we need to be continuing to support a peaceful resolution. “Any moves or overtures towards a peaceful resolution are welcomed. “But at the same time, I think it’s important that there is a real understanding of the responsibility of this war, and that is with Vladimir Putin.”
