President Donald Trump said Monday that he is "looking at" firing U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle after various reports alleging she engaged in improper and potentially illegal conduct before and during her tenure in Athens. "We're not happy," Trump added. Earlier this month, The Wall Street Journal reported — referencing text messages — that Guilfoyle asked a Trump donor and supporter to pay a $100,000 credit card bill just before her confirmation hearing, promising him access to administration officials if he did. Guilfoyle has not addressed the reports directly, but in a statement released late Sunday obtained by The Associated Press, her attorneys denied any wrongdoing by Guilfoyle and alleged that the money she was requesting from the Trump donor was payment for services like public appearances and speaking engagements that predate her ambassadorial nomination that had not been paid.
