Members of Montreal's Indian diaspora held a demonstration Monday afternoon to stand in solidarity with "Cockroach" protesters, and to denounce security crackdowns. Many demonstrators are concerned for friends and loved ones over fear of a decline in democracy in India. Protests in Canada come as trade relations are set to ramp up with India this week. “The state violence against the people, simply for protesting for their democratic rights has gone to the point, of unimaginable violence,” One protester said, “the demand was for his resignation because he basically dismissed 130 million votes. So, it was a state-sponsored steal of the election process.” Phil Carpenter reports.
