We live in a modern golden age of video games adapted into movies, a trend whose early live-action examples included the 1988 Japanese film Mirai Ninja, based on the arcade game of the same name. From then on, the trend became popular, and within a decade, we saw Hollywood chasing the same wave of popularity. Finally, we landed on the HBO series The Last of Us, Amazon’s Fallout, and even movies like Uncharted, which are considered among the most prominent modern screen adaptations of games. Although this kind of major evolution came a little later in the 2020s, we have been dreaming about it since the 2013 collaboration announcement between Valve and Bad Robot. When it was all just a conversation that Half-Life, a first-person shooter game with a silent protagonist, might get a live-action adaptation, fans imagined it might be something different from the same old conventional Hollywood action movies. #HalfLifeMovie #HalfLife #GordonFreeman #blackmesa
