The horror community had exceptionally high hopes for Rob Savage’s Other Mommy, especially because Josh Malerman’s 2024 novel, Incidents Around the House was such a beautifully written banger! Watching Jessica Chastain with her limbs all twisted up like a pretzel under a kitchen table in the trailers had us all in a chokehold! But the outcome has been comparatively disappointing, especially because all these big changes that the movie made in its adaptation of the book have somehow demoted it to something people would call barely decent! Now the premise of the film is pretty much the same as the novel where an evil shapeshifting demonic entity tries to befriend an 8-year-old girl named Bela by taking on the appearance of her mother, Ursula, so she can convince the child to let her into her heart. #OtherMommy #OtherMommyMovie #OtherMommyEndingExplained
