Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand is in India for more talks aimed at strengthening ties with that country as the federal government also seeks a trade deal — in the ‘Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement’ — with Delhi by the end of the year. “It's a long-term goal, and it is really about our national resilience and our sovereignty. And we need to ensure that we are not reliant on any one country for the economic resilience that our country has been able to exhibit,” Anand said. Aside from trade, security, cooperation around energy, and defence was also on the agenda for Anand’s talks with her Indian counterpart. All part of Canada’s ongoing efforts to mend relations with Delhi -- which were ruptured during the Trudeau government, over the India’s alleged ties to targeted killings on Canadian soil. “This is a complex relationship, but it is also a relationship that is growing; it is reignited,” Anand said, later expressing excitement for Indian Prime Minister
