Greek mythology is full of dynamic characters with fascinating stories. In this video, learn about the story of Hera and her desire to protect a beautiful white cow. She seeks to protect the white heifer named Io from her mischevious husband, Zeus. She assigns the vigilant hundred-eyed giant Argus Panoptes to guard Io, trusting his unmatched ability to keep watch. However, Zeus sends the cunning Hermes to distract Argus with stories and music, allowing Zeus—disguised as a fly—to capture Io and take her away. When Hera learns of the failure, she punishes Argus by transforming him into a peacock, his many eyes now decorating his vibrant tail. We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about Hera!
