In this video, I want to go over how increased social media use may be correlated with mental regression. The more you engage in social media channels, your mind may unconsciously revert to an immature, childlike state. I don’t mean you become physically younger, but instead, your mind naturally begins to engage in behaviors like increased dichotomous thinking, loss of impulse control, increased emotional outbursts, and more behavior traits associated with being mentally immature. Obviously, something like that can contribute to a significant loss of well-being in our life and spell serious trouble for society as a whole. Imagine going from a society of healthy adults that engages in flexible thinking over big problems to everyone thinking and behaving like children with all-or-nothing statements and rash emotional reactions to everything. Note this mental regression idea is just that a theory that needs to be further studied if we think there’s some truth to it and learn exactly
