On May 18, 2026, Sony posted a message to the official PlayStation account on X that starting on May 20, the price of PlayStation Plus would be going up. Single-month subscriptions would rise to $10.99, and three-month plans would jump to $27.99. The reason given was "ongoing market conditions," a phrase so vague it could mean anything, which is precisely the point. Conversely, just a few days earlier, Microsoft announced it was lowering the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate by six dollars a month and rebranding to “XBOX” in all caps, in an attempt to rally Xbox fans to come back to the platform. At the time of recording, there is a pretty strong rumor sweeping social media that PlayStation will no longer be shipping single-player games to multi-platform and that exclusives like Wolverine would stay locked to PlayStation hardware forever.
