10 Set Upper Body Workout?

Anyone who thinks 10-12 total sets isn't enough for a productive upper body workout is just calling themselves out for not knowing how to train. Yes, you can do more than that - in fact I just finished a 15 set upper session a couple hours ago. But I've also had phases where I was doing as few as 6-8 sets and still making consistent gains. The debate over how many sets will fully maximize progress is valid, but the actual difference in growth between "effective" volume and "optimal" volume is smaller than people realize. The bulk of the stimulus will always come from the first few hard sets regardless, and the returns drop off sharply with each additional set. So if your effort, exercise selection, technique and progression are all dialed in, it really doesn't take much in terms of volume to keep moving the needle forward. P.S. My fully structured upper/lower programs (along with 4 other training splits) are all inside TrainWise and lay out everything you need step by step. 👉 T
