Not only can you build muscle very effectively with three workouts per week, but you can actually make solid gains off of just two. I've done this at many points in my lifting career and made great progress, including just this past year where I've been more focused on the content side of things and wanted to be as efficient as possible with my training. Most people think they need way more volume to build muscle than they actually do because their program isn't properly set up, they don't train hard enough, and they don't have a proper progression scheme in place. But if everything is dialed in, it absolutely does work. Full body is typically ideal. There's a two-day program inside my TrainWise app along with the other splits. Plenty of members are seeing great results with it, but even something like upper-lower can also work. Don't let anyone tell you that training a muscle once a week isn't effective. It just comes down to proper execution, and two truly high-quality workouts
