Reality: Building Muscle Isn't That Hard

This really shouldn't be a hot take. Building muscle is only really hard if you make it unnecessarily hard. And here are the top 3 mistakes that make it a lot harder than it needs to be. Number one, as mentioned, excessive volume and frequency. You don't need to be in the gym 6 days a week grinding out endless sets for 2 hours. Most of you can get the physique you want on roughly half that amount if you're making proper use of the time. 10 weekly sets per muscle is a reasonable upper limit if you're actually pushing close to failure, in fact inside TrainWise we don't even go that high and tons of people are making faster progress than they ever did on high volume programs. Number two is training for exhaustion instead of stimulus. So just aimlessly throwing in drop sets, forced reps, high rep "finishers", chasing the "pump" and "burn".
